When I first read the script, I told Jon Steinberg (the showrunner), “aren’t I a little old to play ‘the girlfriend?’ Zoe reminds me of Eady in ‘Heat.’” Jon replied that this was intentional. Zoe was Eady grown up, with agency, language, and ideas that Eady did not have.

I was hooked. To revisit my younger self, both onscreen and off, was a fascinating opportunity. To say nothing of my co-stars Jeff Bridges and John Lithgow. They both embody what you want to be: loving family members and voracious artists. Consummate professionals and utter goofballs. This is also the show that spanned Covid—19 as well as Jeff’s lymphoma. We let this show again and again and again, not knowing what the future would bring or if the stars would align for us to gather again. This show embodies an extraordinary time, and a miraculous recovery.
